Title: Ah serendipity...
Post by: JamesG on March 05, 2004, 01:21:01 PM
Adelita doesn't like the seat hight on her GS with the taller 70 height Dunlops on. So I've been trying to make a set of longer dog bones to lower it an inch or so.

Problem is, I can't find ANYONE in Columbus who will sell me a fricken 12mm drill bit to do the eye holes. As I was wandering from store to store, I though I would take a wild shot at the dealer and see if they happened to have any lowering links (the kind drag racers and squids use). I go in there and low and behold, they had a set of Muzzys links for ZX series that at the narrowest (ie: tallest) are almost exactly GS stock, and the it has two other settings a half inch apart. BINGO!

They were a bit pricy at over $70 with tax, but I was tired of fooling with them and they look so purty. You can probably find them online/ebay cheaper.
:dunno:
Just an FYI in case anyone wants to lower their GS the quick and expensive way. :thumb:

Thanks for the info. I am sure I will have to make new dog bones when I get around to installing the RGV swing arm. Not sure if I am going to need longer or shorter.

I'm bringing this topic up again.  A friend of mine just got herself a GS :) and she needs to lower it.  I noticed the part number on the Muzzys links is M1200-SL.  I checked their website, and there's a number of bikes using the same links.  Is that right? How much did Adelita's GS get dropped using these?

I saw this while looking around.  As said before, the Kawi ZX series should work on the GS?

Metmachex Ride Height Adjusters (UK) (http://www.metmachex.co.uk/product_information.php?product=36)

Hellishly costly though :o x2!
Any thoughts?

Those ride height adjusters look alot like what I was imagining when I suggested cutting the dogbones in half and welding in turnbuckles.

I saw similar ones on a RC51 that I rode with this past weekend. With the heigth adjustment in the shock, they allow him the vary the wheel base as well.
