Title: Stock rear link length?
Post by: GSJash on July 21, 2019, 05:03:51 PM
Hi folks, first post. I bought a 2007 GS500f about a month ago and I am just coming to the realization that it is probably lowered. There is no centre stand on the bike and the seat height is about 27 inches. The forks have not been lowered in the triple clamps so I think it's just rear lowering links. I want to be sure of that before I try to source some stock links. Does anyone know the length of the stock links? I believe they are part# 62641-01D02.

Welcome to the forum!

I did a quick search and found the answer in a very old post. Stock dogbones are 7 1/16" between hole centers.

If your links are longer than that, you've got lowering links. (I say that when talking about dogbones because I've seen people think that shorter links lower the bike but it's actually longer ones that do... and I don't wanna confuse anyone lol!)

Thanks Showbiz! I'll measure mine after work. I'm pretty sure just from looking at them that they are not the factory ones though.

I do indeed have lowering links installed. New ones have been ordered from the dealer. Thanks again.

You are quite welcome! Glad I could help.

Also, don't forget to adjust the chain accordingly once you raise the bike back up to stock height with the new links. It should also lean over a bit more on the side stand for you (which is a good thing for stability)!
