Title: Tank gasket question
Post by: mwdbruno on March 05, 2004, 08:37:10 PM
So I'm finally going to get around to replacing the tank and plastics on my GS and have one preliminary question...
I have already determined I am going to have to tweak the hole for the petcock when I go to replace it as I have a Pingle petcock I bought from a faithful member (Thanks again Kevin C!).  After doing so, can I use the standard GS gasket or do I need to crete my own from gasket material?  Also the pingle petcock has one fuel line out and the stock has 2...which do I hook up?

Thanks in advance...I'm really itching to get my GS refinished....

Read the Pingel howto in the Racer's Corner:
http://www.gstwin.com/racers_corner.htm#pingel

It assumes that you want to replace both the tank chicken and the ON/RES/PRI petcock with just the Pingel.  In that case, you'd run the Pingel straight to the carbs.

If you like having the vacuum-actuated petcock, then you'd connect the front fuel hose to the pingel and cap the other hose.  Now the ON/RES/PRI petcock will only work on RES or PRI.  But I think if that's all you wanted, then a quick-disconnect would have been cheaper than the Pingel.
