Title: Braided brake lines
Post by: Jimbob on March 11, 2020, 03:27:17 AM
Hey guys I'm thinking about upgrading the rear brake line to braided. I'm thinking between HEL or this one.

Any thought? HEL costs about $30 more

5 years ago I put a HEL clear front line on my gs500. The brake line still looks brand new and I expect it to last the life of the bike. They will also work with you to get the exact length and fittings needed for your application (I needed extra length because I was adding bar risers and taller bars).

I have heard that some ebay brake lines are susceptible to UV damage from sunlight. For an item you should only have to buy once I would spend the extra $30 for peace of mind with HEL.

I'd tend to agree with Bluesmudge.

I don't have HEL lines, I have Galfer (front and rear) that I bought and installed few years ago. Still look like new :thumb:

My Galfers go on my USA '89 this weekend. I do wish they were black sheath instead of clear.

All will work fine, the sunlight notwithstanding. My bike lives in a garage.

The golfers have rotatable ends. Not a soft rotate, but they move.
