Get an SV650 !
SCREAM IT - These bikes have a narrow band of power between 7 & 9000rpm - drop at least one probably two and maybe even three gears and wind it open, wring its neck, get past and relax then enjoy the aftermath of adrenaline - sweeeeet :angeldevil:
Go back to 2004 when a new Honda Civic had 85 horsepower instead of 185 horsepower.
Its an engine from a different time. Get used to the slow lane.
That said, downshifting one or two gears should make it happen.
The CV carbs do lag a bit.

I have a 190 mph+ R1 for power and speed.
My gs is for commuting and work etc. Just wanting to know how to get a bit more power out of this little slug..

You can throw $500+ at a full pipe, uni filter, rejet, and dyno tune. You will be lucky to gain 3 hp. Not worth the trouble unless you enjoy tinkering with motorcycles for its own sake.
Just downshift as necessary to ride the bike in the 7,000 - 9,000 rpm where its making a full 40 hp.

Oh easy then, ride the r1 when you overtake the lorry, then switch back to GS. LOL.
Sorry where are these lorries going on your commute and why are they running 90mph ???
Commute is typically surface streets, if you're running 30-40 miles on the highway at full speeds its basically not the correct use of a "commuter bike" even though that's your commute. I have commuted 40 miles but nearly all of it was local roads, and the highway I would get on for 1-2 miles would be stopped or slow.
Cool.
Buddha.
Budda I appreciate what your saying, but I don't commute to far and happy of what this bike does. Lorries in the uk can cruise on roads around 60, 70 mph and with the wind here it's actually quite scary at times trying to get passed as I know my GS can do 90+ on a good day. The faster you can go in the wind the more stable you become, thats why i was asking to see if these bikes could be juiced up a bit for a bit more power maybe?
