Title: Replacement handlebar for the GS500 2003
Post by: SnowRider on March 22, 2020, 04:27:19 PM
Hi all,

Looking for a replacement handlebar for my GS500.  Some asshat made it into my underground parking lot and pushed over my bike for whatever reason.

I've looked at the options on the Wiki, and none seem to be available.  The Bikemaster Superbike is a 1" bar.  Is that what people are using or are they still able to source the 7/8 bar somewhere?

Thanks.

I have the Superbike bars on my GS and they are 7/8". Not sure if I've ever seen them in 1" size but I've never looked either lol!

If you go on the parts sites like Motosport or BikeBandit etc, plug in your bike's info, it should bring up aftermarket handlebar options:

You can go on amazon or eBay and type in "7/8 superbike bars" ... or any other bars you like.
Example link/search: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=7%2F8+superbike+bars&_sacat=0

Hope that helps!

My Superbike bars are 7/8". Note they are a couple of inches lower, noticeably wider and have less "pullback" than the stock handlebars. "Daytona" bend may be a little more like stock, or so I've heard. I have never seen either stock or Daytona myself.

I put an OEM 2002 Suzuki Vstrom 1000 bar on my GS500F. A little higher and more comfortable.

In the past I have put on Pro-taper aluminum bars with a Rox riser adapter to the larger size bars. The aluminum bars are much stronger and don't bend when the bike falls over.
