Title: Cam Chain adjuster
Post by: tmorserc33 on September 11, 2020, 09:00:05 AM
Hey all.  Just got a 2007 GS500F and am doing some work.  Question on the Cam Chain adjuster, it should act as a plunger correct?  How much tension is needed to plunge?  Mine seems to be frozen.  Thanks.

Tim

Hi Tim,

You need to remove the rubber plug on the tensioner, stick a screw driver in and turn so that it retracts, and then hold the screw driver while you attach it back to the engine. You can find this process at 8:20 in the following video.

Better to do with two people if you can!

Ok awesome.  I really appreciate the quick response.  Easy enough.

Mate, don't risk running with a camchain adjuster that you're not confident is in good nick.
The price you pay if it fails is a wrecked engine!
