Title: The board lives!
Post by: BaltimoreGS on September 27, 2020, 07:33:06 PM
Been many years since I have stopped by this forum.  The first street bike I ever bought was a 2001 GS500.  I sold it when I went back to college.  About 2 years ago, a friend of mine texted me and said he had acquired my old bike.  Not just the same year, my actual bike!  (could tell by a few mods)  I ended up buying it from him.  I also had an '89 GS500e at one point that was painted to look like Eddie Van Halen's guitar.  About 10 years ago, I had given that bike to a friend of mine that was down on his luck so he had a way to get to work.  I got a text from him out of the blue Friday asking me if I wanted the bike back.  It is in rough shape from sitting unused in his parents' backyard, but still complete.  Now that I am back in GS ownership land, I decided to stop in here; glad to see the board is still alive!

LOL, I remember you, that's odd, cos I dont remember what I had for breakfast ... Oh yea, Bourbon chicken without the chicken.
Nice to find the exact same 89 ... enjoy putting it back on the road then enjoy the road.
Cool.

Assuming your the same peeps as the Youtube channel, I gotta say: "Thank you".

I have used several of them extensively since I bought my first motorcycle, a 2000 GS500e, non-running. I would have neem pretty screwed without your valve clearances videos which I watched like a million times.

THANK YOU.

Ditto on the videos. The valve shim video was very helpful. Regrettably I just traded my GS for an old pickup truck. Howerver I still lurk the boards now and then.

Glad you folks were helped by those videos!  They were a labor of love at the time.  I have since moved from being a mechanic to the healthcare field.  I'll have to get some pics and find a way to post them when I get a chance.  Put a big dumb windshield on the '01 GS yesterday so I can keep riding it while the temperature drops.
