Post by: Peterock on May 28, 2021, 08:37:06 PM
Hey all I am new here and just scored a 2007 GS500F... I was just wondering what tires have you found works best for longevity and handling.
I want something that doesn't scallop easy.
or maybe someone can suggest what tires to avoid. :)

Thanks in advance

I had the combo of Michelin pilot street radial on rear, 140/70, and pirelli sport demon front, stock size. I rode these tires for a few hundred miles on the GS and liked them so much I moved the exact tires onto my Bonneville. It's a magical combo IMHO that happens to wear front and rear at similar rates.

I had Avon road riders on the Bonnie before and the front scalloped. The Michelin/pirelli combo grips way better and in probably 3k miles has no issues at all. When these tires go on the Triumph I may replace with the same or my try pilot road 5s. Just not convinced that a radial front tire will have the same responsiveness as the bias ply pirelli.
