Title: Ignition wiring
Post by: Aussienoob on August 14, 2021, 05:14:55 PM
So I managed to get the old ignition out thanks to help from this forum, but now I've got a new problem: the ignition I bought off ebay to replace it seems to be wired wrong. When I plug it in, it's reversed, so on is actually off and vice versa. The ebay seller is being a pain about returning/refunding it so I'm thinking of just having a go at rewiring it. It has more wires going on than the original version, as you can see in the pics (green plug is the original). Anyone know how I can go about fixing it? Or am I doing something wrong with the installation? It seems to be a pretty simple plug and play situation but maybe I've missed something. Thanks all

Edit: Decided to bust up the original lock and just take the wiring component out of that and swap it into the new one. Worked perfectly!

Yea the "lock" has a mechanical component that sends the plunger into the slot in the neck tube and an electrical component - in fact 2, one for park and one for on that slides a conductor between 2 pins.  So swapping yours may have been the best bet.
Cool.
