Title: ever sold a bike on ebay?
Post by: vegbiker on March 09, 2004, 11:40:52 AM
I just did! My friend's bike (it's okay, I told him ahead of time). So, have you shipped a bike before? Did you use ebay's escrow service to get the bike and money transfered?

It seems like selling was easy - now I've got all this stuff to worry about :(

I bought my bike off an ebay ad. I'm lucky though as the seller was only 60miles away so he delivered the bike to me. Before i managed to get my 96 GS500E I tried so many times to buy a bike. The ebay escrow service is reliable. We all see these unbelieveable deals on ebay for nearly new bikes at low prices, I tried a few of them hoping one wasn't a scam, sadly they all were and each would ask to send money using an alternative escrow account. Upon checking these escrow service  websites that the seller wanted me to use I found the sites to be total fakes, they looked professional and all but the sites were created with the sole purpose to rip us off. Lckily I didn't ever send money.

Glad you sold your friends bike though and all is going smooth. For shipping it's much cheaper to have it sent to an air terminal than to send it to a business or residential address, the buyer would just have to arrange to pick it up from his local airport.

I bought mine on Ebay.  Made the downpayment via Paypal (I was a little nervous...) he was about 70 miles away, so I picked it up and paid the rest when I received it.  All went well, except he didn't leave me feedback  :x

Yah, I also bought mine on Ebay, but it was local pickup. I heard, however, that forwardair does shipping on bikes.

Hi ya,

Not sure if this helps:

Usually, the buyer arranges and pays for shipping.

We bought some 'vintage' furniture on EBAY and used one of the packer/shippers they suggest.  Everything arrived properly crated and in great shape.

We've used paypal a lot and haven't had any problems.

forwardair looks to be about the cheapest I shipping when I shopped around. And yes delivering and arranging pickup at a business with room for a truck makes it much cheaper and easier!
