Hey everyone, I'm new here and I'm trying to tackle an engine rebuild on my 2003 GS500. :woohoo:
The problem I am runniing into is that my local Suzuki dealer (Brisbane, Australia) has full gasket kits on backorder from Japan. This will take 4-6 weeks to arrive. I've looked online for soemthing cheaper and quicker to arrive but I can't seem to find anything for the 2003 model. I'm not sure if I'm just stupid and it's the same as earlier or later models, but I can only find a kit for up to 2000 and another kit that starts at 2004. Has anyone in Australia ordered a full gasket kit online for a 2003 model?
Any help would be stella! :)
The only engine gasket that changed afaik was the sump gasket when an oiler cooler was added on 2004+ F models. Otherwise any kit for 1989 - 2010 will work.
I wouldn't trust an aftermarket head gasket, so try to buy that OEM. Anything else you can buy aftermarket. Still, 4 - 6 weeks isn't too bad in this world of COVID supply chain woes. I would just wait for the parts to show up. For my GS1000 a lot of gaskets are back ordered until summer 2022 so I have been buying aftermarket and New Old Stock gaskets off of eBay.
Thanks so much for a solid reply! I've gone ahead and ordered that kit from the local dealer, guess I'll just be grateful it won't take any longer
