Title: From the Grave...Steezin's Pipe-Dream GSxRD
Post by: steezin_and_wheezin on February 22, 2022, 03:29:20 PM
Long time ladies and fellas. I have finally starting accumulating parts for my GSxRD pipe dream. Since watching EdE's 400 (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=61832.0) come together - I have been itching to bring my OG love for the first motorcycle I bought a GS togheter with my new heart anything two stroke!

I'm still kicking myself for letting the GsF I built go. Would love to get all those bits back, especially the gimbel rearsets! So I picked up this decent '89 for a starting point and the stock top triples.

Got it back into the shop, needs quite a bit and unfortunately Buddha (I think) nabbed the tank off of it. I'm OK with it though as the original tank would have likely been painted once the project is complete.

A friend had a spare tank from his crazy kawi triple build and gifted it to me. Came with a brand new petcock as well.

As he passed off the tank he mentioned I should come to a meet he goes to in May on the back of the dragon. So I took that as a challenge! Heading next weekend to pick up some RD parts and get this project moving finally. Doubtful that I'll get it completed in time to trust in on the back of dragon, but crazier things have happened!

Naa the Charlotte White 89 GS - I didn't buy anything off it. I tried to have His and my mutual friend buy the starter but that also didn't work.
Cool.

Engine pulled and mock up accomplished a while back. Not going to be rushing this one, but loving how it's shaping up already!!

Any progress on this? Would love to see more!

Also, do you remember if the Gimbel rearsets you had came with matching passenger pegs? I've got a member of the GS500 fb group asking that question about them. I did some searching and also linked him to a site that lists them still... but I figured I'd also ask you too.

No updates, I do think I'll keep those pipes in mock up. I believe they were made for the RZ watercooled engine, but should do fine on the aggressive top end I plan to run on this one. Currently I'm searching for a decent condition gsx-r600 front end. That will be the next big step

I believe I purchased those passenger pegs separate from the rearsets. Wish I wouldn't have let that bike go.. would have been awesome to keep that one in the collection for the long haul
