Title: Electric Start issue??
Post by: anesbitt267 on March 13, 2022, 09:31:01 PM
So I got a 06 gs500f a couple days ago and the bike was running and riding just fine but when I brought it home it refuses to start. The lights and cluster come on but attempt to start(yes bike in nuetral, clutch engaged, kill switch in run, kickstand in up and down). So I decide I wanna push start it and I get it to run and all is good but it bogged out it was a little cold. I try to restart it and the switch work several times just fine. Starts the bike right up. Bike ends up turning off and now the switch won't work. Got it to push start but not stay on. So I parked it with the switch not working. For the hell of it I went to start it one more time a half hour later and the e start works again and the bike starts up. I turn it off and the button refuses to work again. Anyone have any reason why this is happening. I've done my research but I guess I don't have the knowledge to understand the issue here. Was about 45 degrees out

Intermittent problems are usually caused by faulty switches or bad wiring/connectors shorting or not making contact properly.

I'd start by checking the side stand switch and kill switch and it's connectors. Does the engine stop running while you're riding or is the problem just starting it sometimes?

No the problem is just starting it. It seems like it works when I got it started but then stopped and started again. I tested for power at the clutch safety and that was all good. Did not go to side stand but it seems like something simple
