I was topping off my fork oil because the bike has been sitting and I'm pretty sure my seals are weeping and during the re installation of the caps, one of them cross threaded and is now trash. Where can I get new caps in the states? What are the thread sizes? A common thread size is M34X1.5 but I measured mine at 33mm dia. Anyone have any insight?
What year is your GS? It looks like the part number changed in 2004 when Suzuki switched to the newer style made-in-Spain forks. That part number is 51351-01DD0
Nothing new on US ebay at the moment but there are some used ones that would work. eBay UK has a new one available. Honestly, I'm surprised the part shows as discontinued since Suzuki still makes the GS500 in Columbia. You will probably have to do some eBay hunting.
The part number for the old forks is 51351-01D30
If you have the old forks you will probably have to settle for a used one from eBay.
Maybe someone else can confirm if the caps are interchangeable between forks.
I've got a 2007 GS500f. Sounds like I'll have to do some digging and keep my fingers crossed.

If you have cross threaded the cap you will have also cross threaded the tube :dunno_black:

Maybe, except the cap (at least on mine) is aluminum and the tube is steel, so it's far less likely to have damaged the threads on the tube.
I suppose the PO could try threading the one good cap into the potentially damaged tube to check. Which might ruin the good cap, requiring you to buy two new ones in addition to figuring out how to re-tap the tube.

The cap is aluminum and the tube is steel. Tube is fine. I did swap caps to make sure.
Hi
How you getting on with your cap? I have had some made for my On line shop. They come in Black or Silver. I may have an original one in stock.
Just to be sure is it the Pioli Forks. (little round sticker at the bottom of the fork leg).
I could stick on Ebay if you want?
