It depends on which model you have. The earlier E-models have "clip-ons" while the later F-models circa 2004 onwards have top mounted handlebars. It may be possible to swap out the top tripple tree to the F-model for straight bars.

Also have a look at the GSTwins Wiki pages for ideas: http://wiki.gstwins.com/index.php?n=Main.Upgrades (http://wiki.gstwins.com/index.php?n=Main.Upgrades).

Was simple for 89-04 e model with clip ons, just those kind of fasteners to screw in the triple tree, M10 threads.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220827/b6fb847aa3cd56c5184dd6c2a006dbc1.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220827/d2d42604850973ed0734c096a35f2532.jpg)

My 1998 here in the States came with top mount bars. They were bent and rusty when I got my bike so I replaced them with "superbike" bars which are slightly lower than my stock ones were. Very inexpensive and I find them to be quite comfy.
