Title: Should i remove the paint where the bearings seat in the wheel?
Post by: Gongal66 on November 10, 2022, 04:54:26 AM
Hello everyone.

I am replacing the bearings in my wheels, got a new ones to complete the job. The thing is: my bike had the wheels painted at some point in the past, and the one who did it painted where the bearings are placed too. Im worried to insert the new ones in. The old ones where hard remove, but im afraid that maybe trying to clean up the surface remove some extra material from the hub and then the bearings dont seat tight enough.

What do you think? Did someone have a similar situation in the past?

Its not required if the bearings that were in it seated just fine.
