Title: Time for a new chain
Post by: Jimbob on November 17, 2022, 02:27:34 PM
I'm looking at getting a new chain not because it's reached the end of its adjustment but because it's lose in one area and tight in another, just wondering if anyone has used any of these chains I'm looking at and what they thought? Cheers

I've generally stuck with D.I.D. chains. I figure they are probably OEM equipment on many Japanese motorcycles for a reason. I generally get 15,000 - 20,000 miles out of their VX3 chains with minimal chain maintenance and they can be had for under $100.

That said, any X-Ring chain that is made in Japan is probably a safe bet, so out of that list the EK chain looks good to me. Although I think you only need 110 links and it looks like that one is 120.

Ditto D.I.D. chains, X-ring, Gold, always bought mine with both sprockets 'n' chain m'sel', use clean engine oil to lube - far better than spray on crap... hohum...  :angeldevil:

Hmmm I can't seem to find the EK with 110 links, does it matter if it has 120?

It wont fit, will jump and tear up a buunch of crap when it does. You cant cover +10 links with the adjustment, you can barely cover +2.
You can of course use a high quality chain pin remover tool - your call. I'd rather buy the 110.
Cool.
