Hopefully this makes sense to someone. After a rather soggy 100 mile round trip my bike has suddenly decided to get very fussy about its power delivery?
The bike runs fine in neutral and idles/revs freely with no issue.
When I put it into gear and slip the clutch, also no issues, but when I fully release to engage a gear the bike suddenly becomes extremely choppy. This is the same for all gears.
The suddenness of this onset I feel is particularly strange. The chain tension is good and my sprockets/chain are a little worn but nothing that should warrant skipping.
Contaminated clutch plates? I haven't introduced any new oil. Slipping clutch?
Burnt clutch? I have adjusted the cables and don't see an issue there.
What year and mileage? Stock set-up?
If the clutch cables and free-play are in spec, check the clutch actuator rod (under the sprocket cover) it might be sticking.
Are you sure its the clutch, not blocked fuel Supply for example?
Clutch is easy to diagnose, is the tachometer going up or down without the speed changing the same (relative) amount. If its not, than your problem is elsewhere.

I believe if it was fuelling supply then the stutter would appear in neutral and when the clutch is slipping as well. Does this sound like the symptom of a worn clutch to you? Perhaps the friction material has had it or the springs aren't binding it well enough?

2007, 50k miles. Stock set up (to the best of my knowledge) I believe I know which rod you're talking about but I'm not sure what you mean by "check" I've had the cover off and had a good clean out in there but nothing obvious about that rod would indicate a fault?

No. If it was electrical it would occur in neutral at the same rpm. If its throttle position related you will have to open up the throttle more for the same rpm under load. Clutch slippage will cause the rom to shoot up without a change in speed. Your symptoms are pretty indicative of carburetion.
