Title: New Owner -- NC near Winston-Salem
Post by: ruxpin76 on February 03, 2023, 09:04:35 PM
Hey all... New Owner (tomorrrow - 2/4/2023) but not a new rider. This is a "project" bike with repainted bodywork (but solid) and is a 2001 model with only about 4xxx miles. Verified by VIN trace... It has some rust in the tank and seized head bearings (though the current owner broke the bearings free to at least move the bike around.) It will be acquired for $1500, and I'll treat and coat the tank as well as replace the bearings with new All-Balls units. From there, new rubber, and she should be a runner. I'll replace all the fluids, and likely front fork seals too (included.) Projects... but garage time is cheaper than a therapist.

So far, I've owned:
2001 GZ250 (first bike)
2012 CBR250
2004 SV650 (Should've kept...traded for a racecar...track closed before running. doh!)
2014 CBR500
2014 Kawasaki Ninja 300
2004 Kawasaki EX500
...and now this
GS500.

I've always been a "Suzuki" guy, lusting after their 1980's GSXR machinery when I was too young to ride... I'm looking forward to rehabbing this 'ol girl.  I'm in King, NC (near Winston-Salem) and have some good backroads around here. Drop me a line if you're going to be local. Cheers,

Ted

PS - The attachment, which I'm sure is posted on here somewhere, is what I've had in the back of my mind for the past 2 bikes, so it's nice to get a GS500 and move in this direction...

Got her today! And the prev. owner included virtually all the parts I need to get her road-worthy again...bonus.
