Title: GS500 not performing after messing with the carbs
Post by: Chisel on March 04, 2023, 02:23:55 PM
Hi Guys

I did a little search but couldn't find exactly what I needed so thought I'd put up a post.

I've got a 2007 GS500, I sold it last year and bought back about a month ago. The guy I sold it to pulled the carbs out and changed the float needles. When I bought the bike back it's ticking over fine but it's not performing well at all, in fact it struggles to get up to 30 to 40 to 50mph.

Given the fella changed the float needles I assumed that he hadn't set the float at the right level. I did a bit of research and from what I can see they should be c. 13mm set above the carb casing and measured while on their side. Having done that they sit pretty much dead on 13mm so my next thought is the piping, perhaps he hasn't put everything back where it should be and this in my question. Does anyone have a diagram for the pipe work? I have searched google but can't confirm what I am looking at is for a 2007.

Thanks in advance!
