Title: Bearing not fully seated. How to remove the rear sprocket hub seal?
Post by: Armandorf on March 26, 2023, 07:48:32 PM
Any trick to remove the rear sprocket hub rubber bearing seal?

I'm trying to remove it with a flat screw driver and there is no chance.
There is other nicer way aside from violence?

I know I could push the bearing and the seal will pop out.
I want to remove the rubber seal so I can fully insert the bearing.

That seal usually comes out with a pick - destroys the seal but we replace it when we remove it.
Cool.

i finally removed without destroying it.
With a really long flat screw driver, twisting it, using the bearing outer race as leverage.

i still cant make the bearing fully enter in its place, but no problem, i will put a washer beneath it.
i need a washer to fill the gap i have from the wheel conversion.
i had the axle a bit loose and tightening would side load the bearings.
i have an air leak in  the rear.
So with low pressure and a really nasty shimmy, my wheel ended crooked with the brake side chain adjusters out.

i made a test fit with a  washer and all the spacers.Tightening until i had no force left still got my a free spinning wheel. Thats good.

Srinath, i was reading the pantablo s gsxr   rear wheel conversion. https://pantablo500.tripod.com/id50.html

i used a bandit 600 wheel and from what i can see uses the same spacer lenght of the gs rear wheel, there is any other concerns apart from centering the rear caliper and making sure the sprocket is aligned and the nuts dont touch the swingarm?
the caliper support arm fits nicely too.

I've got no Idea of the GSXR abd B6 conversions. I stay with B4 (yea I know unobtanium) but simple swap. Only 4". You cant run a much wider tire anyway without swingarm widening.
BTW some of those Kat6 and SV650 conversions are supposed to be a simple swap - with the only difference being 17mm GS axle vs 20mm axle. The GSXR things - no idea.
