Title: Suzuki gs500e only rund for 10 minuts , then dies
Post by: Sylvest on June 22, 2023, 12:06:32 PM
Hi Friends .
I got a problem with my suzuki gs500e from 2009 .
It can only run for 10 minute , then it dies .
I changed the pitcock to a new , but from the model earlier.
Still have same problem , but them the fuel is on free flow it run better .

Where do you guys think I can find the problem ?? Where to start ?

Could I'd be a vacuum problem , and how to test and fix it ?

Thank you for your help ,it's much appreciated 🙏

Does the bike start right up again after it dies, or within a minute or two? Or does it take an hour + before it starts again?

If it takes a long time to start back up or happens no matter how hard you are running the bike, its probably an electrical issue. Some wiring that shorts once it warms up. Happened to me with the signal generator pickup...it would test OK when cold but fail after 10 minutes when the bike was hot. Then by the time you tow the bike home and get to test it, it starts up again and everything tests ok.

If it only dies when on the highway and starts back up again soon after, it could be a clogged tank vent or a tank bag blocking the vent. It can create a vacuum in the tank that will starve it for fuel.

Could also be slightly low fuel level (aka low float height). If it idles fine forever but dies after running at high speed.
