Hi Everyone,
If I wanted to join the 21st century and get a modern, multi- or dual-compound tire, what are my options?
It seems our rear is not a popular size any more, at least not for the more modern tires.
I've had Bridgestones of course but also Dunlops.
Any dual comp stuff that fits and available now?
Sorry, got no idea. I've started using avons and very happy with them, but they've moved factories or stopped making them or something.
I could not find Avon in our sizes in my area.
I'm on the GPR-300 Dunlop and I like the grip but I don't like the flat spot on the rear. I know I can still ride the bike until I wear out the tire but at least in my mind it seems to "drop in" to turns now and I would like something with (even) more longevity.
I can't help with information about dual compound tyres, but I have installed Michelin Road Classics on my bike and have no complaints - although I am certainly not the sportiest rider around. Before this purchase I also considered some Pirelli Sport Demon tyres as they get some great reviews online and come in the correct sizes too..
Not stock sizes, but I have been very happy with my Michelin Road tires. I have the road 5 front and rear. I think it's dual compound in the rear only but the new road 6s are dual compound front and rear. I run a 140 in the rear and 120 in the front. Not all Michelin dealers carry the 140 size so you have to look around.
Super performance and long life. I have 12,000 miles on my set and still at least 1/3 life left so I plan to replace them around 15,000 miles. I bought them for their cold/wet weather performance.
I've just put new tyres on my bike last week. I got the Michelin pilot still getting used to them but I was told they are a much better tyre than the sport demons that I have been using up till now
Hmm...there are diffrent radial options now, but I've been hesitant to try. Still sticking with the BT45 now BT46 bias ply made to work with the GS crude suspension. These tires work well in many conditions down to freezing, I'm scared to ride my newer bikes with fancy modern tires at 50 degrees you need to be careful.
I life in Brisbane Australia the coldest it gets is about 9 Celsius
