The protagonist's insurance company came around to see the bike yesterday, I think I must be the first person ever in Switzerland who didn't just give an accident vehicle to a garage. They were completely befuddled by the concept that the bike could be at my house and I was bombarded by questions like how did it get here. "TCS (swiss version of the AAA), I'm the customer and they take it where I tell them". Anyway it seems the usual mathematics in the UK and America doesn't hold in Switzerland because getting rid of an old bike actually costs money here. From what I understand they will give me the book value of the bike, and I just get to keep it. Let's see........... At least I can start tearing into it.
First exhibit. The banana boat song comes to mind.
Another question, this bolt ties the headlamp bucket to the triple trees. I vaguely remember that when I rebuilt the bike 10 years ago , that this defeated me.
This time I must get it loose.
Vicegrip pliers on the round thing and a wrench on the bolt? What the hell is that round end thing?
Jeez, 2003 springs Vs ???? Year, Vs progressives..
Middle ones come from some replacement forks I picked up from ebay, they have preload adjusters, which years where they? Its the early years right?
Interestingly, due to the more turns the middle spring is the softest of the three, followed by the shorter spring and then the thick gauge spring is the firmest.
Just need fork seals and the side panel and she can go back together.
While was at the back I decided to replace the rear fender. Someone in the past had done a fenderidioctamy, so I'm getting her back to stock.
2nd hand parts seem to be real cheap at the moment!!
Hmm new, rather expensive, proper Suzuki OEM Handlebars.... You can see the impact bend...

Don't seem to be the quality of the old jobs... see the difference in thickness. Wonder how the "vibes" will feel.
Still struggling with the idiots insurance. I got a lowball offer , by WHATSAPP of all means, from the insurance company, who also ignored my claim for all the damaged gear..
One would expect more form Switzerland. However the good part is that the police report put him at 100% to blame, that means his insurance has to also cover my lawyers costs.
I've given them until next Friday to take this seriously at which point I will get the lawyer on the case.
