Title: Is The Oil Cooler Thermostated
Post by: WDHewson on May 20, 2024, 01:09:01 PM
Hi Guys,

Recently got a 2008 Suzuki GS500F.

With the heat of Summer building I was wondering if the oil cooler is thermostatted?

Thanks.SusyGS500FEngine.jpg

Its a simple mechanical bypass of the flow of oil, its between oil pump, sump and filter passages.
I believe its connected on the oil sump(carter).

You should look if there is such part on catalog, like a valve when it reaches temp, i believe not.

Thanks Armandorf.

I checked the parts diagrams for the oil cooler and filter,.... and see nothing listed.

I can reach down and feel the top of the oil cooler with my fingers and it seems to heat up at about the same rate as the engine, so likely is not thermostatted.
