Title: valve shim size best practise?
Post by: keith on September 29, 2024, 03:07:09 PM
Yet another question.
So if I did the measurements on the replacement shims and everything works out near perfect for 3 of the four shims to be replaced with shims in .05 increments.

The fourth one has a:
- 2.58 shim
- feeler was a .02 and wouldn't go under the cam. (bucket still rotated though) but I use .02 as my number
- so if I am aiming at the looser spec of .08 minus .02 gives me .06
- 2.58 minus .06 means I need a new shim of 2.52
They only come in .05 increments, do I drop down to 2.50 or up to 2.55?

Thanks!

2.5  2.55 is a bit too tight at .05, it could work if is the shim you already have, i would use it

Actually it depends on what usually happens, if the gap gets larger with time or closes, cant remember now whats usual for the gs.

How are the others,? i would try to have them not so apart from the others

gap closes over time as the valve seat recesses.
