Title: handle bars a long way forward
Post by: TassieGS on May 29, 2025, 11:02:43 PM
Hi seeing what options there are to reduce the reach of the controls? I've spoke to Suzuki who have suggested risers. I'm about to fit a gel seat pad as the seat is quite hard. Will that also help with the reach? The bike is   for the wife and my long arms are a bit of a stretch as it is.

You have the F model with handlebars? Look for risers that have more reach, you gain around 3-4cm.
You can also change the handle bar

For the clipons model you can change the Handlebar Yoke that goes in the top Yoke to convert it to handlebar

Have you tried loosening the allen head bolts that clamp the handlebars and pulling the bars closer?
You will probably have to then adjust the brake and clutch lever position.

I used "Bar-Back" risers, that move your position both up and back. I also used a flatter set of bars (CB400F) that really made the difference for my wrists.

Thanks everyone, I'm going going to see Suzuki and see if I can get some better handle bars and or risers. I noticed today the bars on the wife's bike are really wide and it doesn't feel right. Almost like having a truck steering wheel on a car. I need some that bring the controls closer to the tank. Slightly higher bends will help as well some with more rear angle. I never noticed until the wife had for first go on the GS and said the bars were really wide compared to the bike she rode at the rider training school. Upon riding the bike home from the old church carpark I realised heck yeah they are way too wide.
