Title: Gs500f dies when you touch the throttle
Post by: 2skint2scrap on August 11, 2025, 01:59:54 AM
Hi guys,

New to the group, I'm getting fairly frustrated with my new bike.

I have fitted a new silencer to my bike, the air box and filter are standard. I assume it's because of the exhaust? I have also removed all the "egr" and blocked all the vacuum ports except the one to petcock

I start the bike on the choke and it starts straight up but idles really high. As soon as you touch the throttle it will die. I covered the carb inlet ports with my hand and it ran great. Carbs have been fully cleaned many times.

I believe upsetting is the answer but don't really understand what to buy or if that's the answer

Thanks for any help

What do you mean you covered the carb inlet ports, yuo mean you had the air filter off?

High idling is a sign of intake leak
