Just wondering what your favorite mods is to you ride.
The magnet that is on the cross bar of the center stand..
Its a bar magnet (quite powerful) used to trigger the red lights..
come in at a decent speed and then bit the brakes over teh pad and it will recognise your bike.
this has been the most useful mod for me, even though it sometimes fails on some really badly aligned detector loops.
Got to be:
1. Progressive fork springs (rides like a whole different bike) and
2. Rejetting (no more cold starts, better performance)
40 tooth Sprocket Specialist's Titan Tough hardened aluminum rear sprocket.
And 1980's Yamaha sportbike turnsignals.
<------- see avatar.
Can I count the gixxer front end as one mod?!!
i should add and say after the magnet, its teh suspension work of progressives up front and the katana shock out back.
Bar end mirrors.
Fuzzy dice...definitely fuzzy dice.
oh, and ripping of the damned nasty tail decals.
I am partial to the random chrome parts and giant wing on the back and the "Type R" Stickers all over it.....Jeebus, I'm way too much of a ricer

looks like CasiCUA had a little too much fun with photo editing :dunno:
Yeah, I love doing terrible Photo Editing jobs. You have to see the wife/booty call thread...

CasiCUA, what year is your bike? That's exactly what my 93 looked like when I bought it (minus the Type R sticker and wing - mine came with the pink splash graphic). Cool to see what it morphed from. Now it's on it's 3rd tank, 2nd tail...in fact I think the only things that are orininal are the frame and engine block.
i would have to say my pipe is my fav mod so far. makes the gs sound like it has a set if ya know what i mean
It's a 1992, and as far as I know, all original. Oh yea, I forgot also the original topic of this post. My bike is Completely stock. I did the Exhaust mod, but I think I cut too far in, and now the bike sounds like it is constantly farting. I'm getting a CBR or Yamaha OEM Canister to replace mine, should still see some kind of performance increase. :dunno:
I must say that the greatest mod for the GS is...............(it makes it way cooler, faster, better, etc.)
The Fenderectomy!
It really should be the first mod any GS500 owner does. Period.
naah, didnt you know it gives you 20 extra hp if you leave that mudflap on? (runs and hides behind a sportster) :bs: :nana:

my favorite of all is the s-m handlebars.
wait.....
maybe the ducati fairing...makes me smile every time I walk up to her.
The dent in my gas tank, I swear I got a 5hp increase after that mod. It has to do with increased volumetric efficiencies from the lower head pressure feeding the carburetor bowl with a lower mass flow to ambient pressure ratio. :?
Also the scrape marks on my alternator houseing that tore away the Suzuki emblem. When I cruise by I just feel the babes checking me out. :thumb:
There is a 1000 mods I made to my 89 each of which I like a lot... but the favorite would have to be the cheekiest... TL1000 seat latch unit which was lying about on the wreckers floor, which they gave me free cos it ws going to be more $$$ to make the key to open it than they would have got from selling it, and I modded that lock to open with my GS key.
Many more mods actually have great impact... like powder coating the triple and dash panel black, 1/2 inch fork brace (BTW I have a couple of these for sale at $40, BMW after market bar ends, steel braided brake lines with threaded fittings, super short and light exhaust can on stock headers, many more but none make me giggle like the TL seat latch mod.
Cool.
Srinath.
So far i've dona fender chop and added a blast flyscreen, tank bra and case savers. I think the case savers are my favorite so far. i have a bunch o parts waiting patiently to go on the bike but the weather won't allow me to work outside :x
um, *cough-gelseat-cough*
excuse me. what were we talking about?

 You should see how much gain you get from speed holes.
My favorate mod would probably be the progressive springs. Very easy to do, fairly inexpensive, and makes a world of difference... even more so if you replace the fork oil.
If you do a lot of winter riding, heated grips are nice. I have also added a plate/extension that connects where the handlebars are bolted to the bike that holds the switch for the heated grips and a 12v cig lighter style accessory jack.
Rear katana shock definitely improves the feel of the bike, particularly if you're a larger person (I'm ~230-260, depending a little on the week and a lot on what I'm wearing). Handlebar risers can make the bike more comfortable if you like the "gentlemanly" upright position more than the "sporty" leaned over position.
Haven't decided what to do on my bike next, but when deciding what to do, always look at A. what will be the most useful, B. what will be the most fun, and C. what you can afford. it's fun to modify your bike... it just is.
I have two turn signals on each side on the back of my bike, just 'cause I thought it would be interesting and make me easier to see at night.
