Title: undertail
Post by: nicebelair on March 20, 2004, 10:17:36 PM
im making an undertail for my bike, im almost done,  i took stock undertail out, laid a layer of fiberglass down to make it about 3-4 inchs shallower, then laid some bondo to smooth out and make even, then cut away the stock plastic and laid another layer of fiberglass down, also making extra room to put stuff under my seat. im also removing my stock rear turn signals and puting flush mounts on. oh and one more mod is that i put a stock 2002 cbr rear tail light on in place of mine, it looks sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,

I can't really tell a big difference from the side, but from the back it looks real nice! the yellow definitely cleans everything up back there.

Looks good

i really llike what you've done to the bike. i'm hoping one day i'll beable to do something like that, it looks good plus you now have a little extra room under the seat.
what are your tyres? and are you using stock handlebars?

the hugger is from a bandit 400, i bought it from someone that had already drilled the right holes in it, but i also shaved a lot off of it becouse it would cover my entire wheel almost.

Looks great Brandon. Nice work on the hugger, looks just like mine! Think about painting the hugger and rear tail yellow though...would complete the package nicely. A good, updated look.

or remove the side panel stickers to make the tail all black with yellow underneath...will play to the undertail lighting (squid)

You need a new chain.

I'm just being a smarta**. The bike really looks good. Your hard work and vision paid off. :thumb:
Title: That is...
Post by: The Buddha on March 24, 2004, 08:32:42 AM
That is classy... Including the GSXR reservoir location.... mine is zip tied to the left rear foot peg carrier... I think I'll do what you did tonight... Mine just looks bad and is prone to getting smashed if I go down.
Cool.
Srinath.

Brandon:

Looks awesome ... I wish I had the ability to do that.  Partly I'm too lazy.  I need to make an undertail for my Kat but I don't have the original to start with.  The guy I bought it from cut it out and never replaced it with anything ... hence the battery and everything gets covered in crap.

My quetion is ... what did you have to do to swap in the CBR tailight ... I really like that!?   :thumb:

HOT DAMN!  That is one fine-ass bike.  Well done dude.  You have some serious talent there.  I can say that at least ONE person [namely ME] would buy one of your creations if you chose to make a few 'extras'.   :thumb:
