Hi, I am new to the forum. I just got a 2004 gs500f on Saturday. Its really nice. What I am wondering is, what is stock horsepower ? And how much extra would I get by rejet and/or changing exaust. Also how long until exaust and jet kits come out for a 2004 bike.
I see your from NJ...
the stock HP is around 41-43HP..
the jetting can be the 2001 jetting (it uses the 2001 carbs unless they did more changes than what we know about).
We are yet to take one apart .. if your willing to let some of the GStwin members take your bike apart, maybe they will even rejet it for you under the 2001 carb specs.
You can get a K&N filter, jets and pipe and bring it to about 50HP if your lucky.
Yeah, I saw one in the dealership the other day. I noticed that the muffler was opened up a bit more. The actual piping coming out of the canister looked larger than on my 92. I don't know if this was changed before, or new to the GS500F. It is a sweet looking bike, though :thumb:
Congrats on the bike, I checked out an 04 at the dealer the other day... good lookin ride.

stock HP is about 50 + or - on the crank...and 40 HP to the rear wheel
rejetting, pod filter and exhaust pipe would give you about 3 HP to the rear wheel
many people would recomend to leave everything stock for the brake in...then after the brake in peroid do all the things you want..rejett, pod filter and exhaust is the main thing we do here
none of the dealerships in my area have any GS500f's. it sucks. i want to see one...
my dealership doesn't order new bikes very often, but they should be getting some new bikes soon. They sold the GS to me, an 02(?) GSX-R600 to my archnemesis, and a Concours to someone last summer, and have yet to replace them. I keep telling them to get a GS500f and a new gixxer 600 to replace them, but who listens to me anyway?
