Title: Sprocket Question: Who has 15t Front and 40+ Rear.
Post by: Hi-T on March 21, 2004, 08:47:55 PM
I've searched the old posts and have read alot of hear-say...  So I want to hear from people who have done this mod.

I already have a 15t front sprocket and will be replacing the chain before the season ends.  Who has a 15t front and 40 or more rear sprocket combo?  What size chain (how many links) did you need?

I would like a tad extra low end torque- and this is about the last mod I can think of.

Thanks

I was running a 15 front with 41 rear. It was alright, but I switched back to the 16 front and 41 rear. I prefer that better for street riding.
Do you have an advancer? That will improve your lowend power.

Yep- Thanks to you, I have an advancer.  I've done just about everything I think of to squeeze what I can out of the GS- It's running smooth and pretty quick but I want just a little more acceleration.  If not the sprockets, then what??

Bob- how many links did you have in your chain when you went up on the rear sprocket?

Thanks-

I just counted 112 links. That sets the rear axle towards the rear of the adjustment range. I think 110 links would work fine.
I'm running a DID 520 X-ring chain.
You went to a smaller front and 41 is only 2 teeth larger, so the stock chain should work (110 links).
Wait till you get the rear sprocket and see how it fits. Then you'll know what to order.
