Post by: Frost on March 22, 2004, 11:33:43 AM
well...i scratched my tank with my tank bag because i was ridind dusty roads all day and i kinda moved my tank all around from laying on it...

anyways...what can i do to make it shiny again?...can i just use some buffing compound and buff it out?...or is there any other way?

:nono: OH NO ... you must re paint the whole bike immediately...
Yea ignore the damn thing... its like the most agonising thing in the world... but there will be worse... and if not... be thankful that there isn't. But anyway if there is worse you'll feel like a idiot for putting in all the effort in newising it... if not hey you're lucky.
Cool.
Srinath.

Depends on how bad it is, if it's down to the metal or primer there's not much you can do besides touch it up and live with it. If it's a shallow scratch you may be able to compound it out. The first scratch is the toughest!! The rest won't be so agonizing now!

I feel your pain. On the way home from the dealership on the night I bought my truck I got a quarter sized rock ding with a paint chip on the hood. Damn thing had 12 miles on it. How deep is the scratch? Send a pic, maybe someone will have some suggestions.

Next time, why not have an old, soft rag in your tank bag for brushing off dirt and stuff occasionally?  Can't be lying on your tank all the time :)  Once I get the loot to have my bike repainted (damn lowside and current lack of job) I'll be worrying as well!
