I think I am going mod crazy here. I want shorter signals. I like the lockhart philips signals and was wondering if anyone on the board had any experience with them. I looked for old posts but could not get anything to pull up. Do they go on easily? Much modification? Thanks! :thumb:

I've got the LP short stalk front signals, and flush mount rears. I really like the rear ones (which came on my bike when I bought it). No more nasty looking signal stalks, and you can do whatever you want with the rear fender :) Just need to drill a hole through the tail plastics.
I've got a question though. The previous owner put some sort of mounting brackets for my front signals. They're just bent rectangles of aluminum with holes drilled through it for attachment. They look pretty ghetto :P What's a good replacement, or what's the actual part number for the mounting brackets?

Yea. ,Same here. There are some DOT legal signals that are smaller than stock yet still visible. Seems many of the aftermarket signals lack a reflector which seems so silly. I want people to see me signal!
Pablo installed Beull signals on his bike, which are legal, and smaller too.
I have them on mine. You can sort of see them on the wall of fame. They were easy to install and I really like the look of them. There are some visibility issues I've seen on some, but I've had no problems so far.

It was actually an old post you made that pointed me in the direction of the LP's. I got the same ones as you, the Short Stalk III's, and the Short Stalk V's. I guess the III's will go in the rear and the V's in the front. I went ahead and got the wiring kits for them. Say they went on with no probs? Sounds good! :thumb:
No problem at all! The wires will plug directly into the wiring on the GS. You will have to take off the headlight to access the front wiring, but it is an easy task. I used Pantablo's site (as we all have or should) :roll: and the Clymer's to make sure I didn't screw anything up.
You'll love them I'm sure...though if not I won't refund any money...
I know I will love them. I am so tired of the big stock ones sticking out so far. I got the ones with the clear lenses and the carbon fiber finish, the grey in it matches my bike. Thanks for that post you made way back, it pointed me in the right direction. :cheers:
The GS I just bought has a rear set of short-stalk clear-lensed (yellow bulb) faux CF signals. Although they seem bright enough to us riders, I would rather err on the side of safety when confronting cagers. I'd rather have stockers. Studies have shown that flush-mounts aren't as effective as signals placed on stalks, and it follows that the longer the stalk the better. In addition, the wire leads from the signals were shorter than stock, and it's a stretch to get them to fit the connectors on the wiring harness. :cheers:

you guys. The main reason I went with the short stalk signals was because I had to move my turn signals up, back and
out when I mounted my Five Stars luggage racks. They stuck out plenty already, and this just made it harder to maneuver around my bike in the shed -- and slightly interfered with my hard bags when they were in place on the side racks.
The LP Short Stalk II lights (and probably most of their other models) are billed as "marker lights", not "turn signals". They're not DOT approved. Why? Because they're not bright enough. Even with the "reflectors" that I fashioned, my father let me know that they were hard to see when he followed me. If I ever get around to it I will either cut down my stock signals like Richard did for the same tail rack setup, or go with different OEM units like the Buell lights.
