Title: What's it worth ?? 1997 Track / Street bike
Post by: GVH on April 01, 2004, 06:58:13 PM
Located in Toronto Canada

OK I have been asked to help a nieghbour sell his bike. A 1997 GS500 with, Vortex clipons, Twin headlight, GSXR shock and Prog springs upfront. It also has a 1991 GS500 motor in the frame with 30K ( 18K Miles ) on it. The old motor had 98K ( 65K Miles ) but ran ok.

The only problem is the bike is running rich after the winter storage.

Owner wants $2500 CDN about $1999 US

Seem like a good price or is he to low.

I wouldn't say that it's too low.  Of course, every market can be different and if the GTA area is like the mid-atlantic, come April and May, every type of motorcycle suddenly becomes high in demand.

And you've gotta consider that everything except the engine's got about 80k miles on it...but if it looks sharp and someone's itchy to get a bike, you probably could get a bit more...  A man wiser than myself once said "There's an ass for every seat..."  And when it get's warm and sunny, well, bikes just look a whole lot nicer to folks...  I think deep down, everyone really wants two wheels...

I just got $750 for a 1984 V30 Magna sitting 10 years. More than I expected.

I'm buying a 1999 GS500 on Saturday for $500 but its very ugly.  It also has ownership problems. A Lien is still on the bike. It will be parts only or a track bike.
