Title: 6 hours to write 6 pages
Post by: john on April 07, 2004, 01:34:00 PM
I am the slowest person on the planet when it comes to writing expository essays.  3 lousy essays 2 pages each and it comes so damn slowly.  Luckly these are the last papers I have to write for this class.  All I need to do now is concentrate on Public Speaking as Algebra is a cake walk.

There is no doubt that math is my best subject and Engrish is my worst.

That's not bad for 3 essays.  You had to change your focus three times to write those.  My fastest written page is still around 45min - with notes, Unless it's an opinion that requires no research.  If you get A's on what you write keep taking your time. Any less than that  - don't  pay so much attention.

MLA format?  Really?  Thanks for the revelation    :nana:

Well I feel a bit better now.  Expository essays are very difficult for me.  Personal response type papers are easy for me too.

I have never recieved a perfect score on papers before this class.  3 papers and 3 mid term essays and a 1000 on each -only one in the class.  Though I suspect the teacher has pity for me being stuck in a day class with all those kids.

I am so slow at writing... can never organize my thoughts into what I want to get across.  Starting writing something is agonizing  :(

Getting into a groove is good though... once I find my zone, pages and pages can fly by... unfortunately it takes me a couple weeks to get there :(

I'm glad I don't have to worry about proofreading.  Usually toss it through the spell check to see if I mistyped anything, a good read-through to see if everthing is clear, and off it goes :)  It's good to be blessed with almost perfect grammar  Editing other people's papers though...   Grammar and spelling isn't that hard to do! My sister's papers are flaming heaps of poo (and she thinks I'm too smart for my own good).

Courier new is a perfectle acceptable font, and should get you from about 5 pages to 5-3/4 in just a click of the mouse if you switch from Times New Roman.  :thumb:

That's about the extent of what a private college education has taught me.

And don't get those essays online, because if you are ever suspected of plagarism in the least, you're screwed:
1- You cannot explain the thought process behind writing the paper
2-  Many schools now are purchasing those databases of papers for refference in order to combat the plagarism problem.

Writing has always been the most painful part of the college process for me.  Over the years, my writing has only gotten more terse.

I'm currently sitting on a 40 pg. monster that I need to revise within about a week.  The revision is going to be major, as I have totally changed the main argument of the paper.  :sigh: this isn't fun.
