Title: Race Report - The Little GS That Could...
Post by: V8Pinto on April 08, 2004, 09:11:07 AM
Went out to the track last night.  It's funny how the sport bike guys laugh at the GS and it's funny how out of place a super sport bike looks on a trailer hahahhaha.

I met Dana from this list and others, nice to meet you Dana.  By the time eliminations were under way there were 18 pairs of bikes running.  I made it to the round before semi finals (maybe 6thplace?) where I was soundly trounced by a GSXR-750 that ran 10.950 on a 10.95 dial in (I was a hundredth short of my dial in at a .36 to a .35 dial).  He also beat me off the line with a .135 reaction time to my .298.  Fair and square victory for him and I am fine losing to a truly superior racer.

Confirmed kills:
Brand new ZX6-RR (however many r's there are, 5 miles on it)
Brand new GSXR-750 - sponsored bike, she broke out catching me

ET's for the night were EXCELLENT!  I only ran slower than my  previous best (14.51) one time and that was because of a missed shift!!!

ET          MPH     RT
-----------------------
14.49     90.402  .335
14.46     91.270  .242
14.61     88.688  .249  (missed 3rd gear shift)
14.33     88.918  .214  (best launch, lifted the wheel and hauled ass)
14.45     89.405  .187
14.36     88.678  .298  (he psyched me out, I blew it on the line -loss)

It's interesting to note that my runs in the .30's were in the left lane.  You can see that the tower lane was consistently a tenth or two slower.  On one of the runs, I was at about half track and rode through a long patch of something squishy.  The rear end moved around like the tire was low on air.  I couldn't see it in the dark but I sure felt it.  I just kept full on the throttle and powered through it and still one the race!  yeahhhh baby!

Nice!! I hope to get mine out there this season. I'm still a little uncomfortable launching...but it'll come with some practice.

Sounds like fun. I wish I could try it, but the track here won't let us run with ballistic jackets and I don't want to pop for a leather one.
