Title: just slipt it on...Yaaa buddy
Post by: Jace009 on April 08, 2004, 04:14:53 PM
As soon as it stops raining and get a tinny winny little bit warmer here I know I'm going to be on my bike 24/7 cause I love it  ..Anyways like many of us we want more performance by the time our second year comes around. I have an older 94' model bike that is in desparate need  of a carb clean out. The gas tank looks to be good tho :) While I've got it all dissassembled I figure why not rejett it. Does anyone have another variation of pictures of this procedure besides the gstwin mod page? I'm also looking for a link to a site that might sell me a Cobra slip-on F1-s eshaust since I don't think $300 for V&H is worth it...Unless the V&H is louder at mid rpm...is it? Assuming the stock restrictive air box and this pipe would you say 130mains and 40pilots is a good base point? [3turns out]

For all of us wondering about the Gs500F my friend of a friend just got one last week...so when he gets done breaking it in I might just have to stretch it's legs ;)  I'll let you know more about it when I see the new GS up close and "feel" it

125 mians... and rest you got it right. Also cans off ebay from katana's or older GSXR's work fine. No need for cobra F1's.
Cool.

Cobra is plenty loud at all rpm's.  Wear your earplugs.

OK The Katana cans you should get are aftermarket cans. Noise depends on the make... While Cobra for the GS may be plenty loud... the loudest I have ever been next to is the D&D off a GSXR 1100. Think someone is scratching the back of your skull with a poker inserted through your ear... Yes plenty loud... and high pitched... Yosh tends to be quieter, those oval ones quieter still, I have a super short V&H can slipped on stock headers, I swiped from werase on my 89 that I love... super short... and large dia opening... that's the key to noise. Heck its a good 2 lb weight saving over the Yosh can on stock headers I have on the 91. Yosh typically tends to be quieter and more of a brrrrrrrup type... while the D&D and Shortie V&H were more trrran trrrrran... more metalic and a little bit tinny sounding. Whatever floats your boat... and they all give you a decent performance upgrade... louder ones will be better up high, and the quieter ones better in midrange.
Cool.
