Title: Need help with valve shim tool
Post by: D-Day on April 10, 2004, 07:39:49 PM
How the hell do use this tool?  I am sure some of you are laughing at me now, but it is not obvious to me.

Thanks in advance.

There is a tapered ridge on the back of the tool (on the outside of the curved portion).  That is what depresses the shim bucket.  Place that ridge on the edge of the bucket, with the other side under the cam shaft.  Rotate the handle of the tool down (curved part works under the cam) and the tapered ridge will push the bucket down.  Then you should be able to pop the shim out.  Hope this was clear.  The first time I used the tool, it took some trial and error to figure it out.   :x

That sure was simple.  A small screwdriver to pop it up, and a magnet to extract it.  Took all of 30 seconds.  Doh! :thumb:
