Title: Replacement Speedo/Tach?
Post by: unomashabanero on April 11, 2004, 10:14:47 AM
I smashed my stock guages/instruments last year, and replaced them with cheap JC Whitney aftermarket speedo/tach.  These aren't working out so well. (Lights flicker, mounting is awkward, no oil/neutral lights, etc.)
Any suggestions on other replacement instrument sets (maybe from other bikes if I can't find a GS set) that will work on the GS without too much modification? (I'm working on a limited budget, so looking for something that might be available cheap from a salvage yard/e-bay, etc.)
Thanks,
Sean

You'll most likely need to do some looking around but, the big issue is the ratio for the speedo and tach.  For instance, the speedo ratio is 2260:60 and the tach is 2:1.

Good luck - right now I'm using a stock GS speedo and a mini tach I found on ebay.  Once I get a little more money I'd like to get a mini white face tach (a LOT of harley's have a 2:1 ratio for the tach...)
