Title: Factory Performance modifications to new F series.

Has anyone compared the performance of the F series to the E series? Dino runs, HP-Torque! Handling comparisons and comfort! Tell me about it.

not that i know of.....one of the reason is because noone here has access to a F, but now some people came to this board who own a gs500F...

the good guy said that soon he will have access to a F and hopefully he'll compare both bikes (F and E)...maybe even a dyno run  :dunno:  but i doubt the F has alot more power

isn't everything exactly the same for the F and the E except for a oil pump?

They changed fork brands (I think they are Marosocci?) and calipers but the specs are the same, 37mm non-adjustable damping rod tubes.
The carbs are also different with a TPS now on them, which goes to reason that they have updated the GS's ignitior box. Hope fully this helped power, but was probably done more for emmissions (even leaner).
The oil cooler might help a bit to keep the valves and head cooler so they stay less distorted, and can survive longer if ridden harder.

Other than that, there wasn't much improvement under the plastic.

I wonder if that would explain the disappearance of the GS from the US market for a year.  Maybe they simply couldn't get EPA approval, or California approval.  The GS has got to be one of the few last UJMs in production.  The Ninja is considered old, but it's new compared to the KZ400 (the GS's competition).  I think that the GS500, CB750 and CB250 may be the only UJMs still being sold in the US.

universal japanese motorcycles - standard bikes from japan, I think the original was the cb750 back in the late 60's or early 70's

Possible, but aren't most European countries' emmission standards higher than the US?  I don't recall a break in GS sales there...

But the break probably was due to at least a slow down in production to change out the line.
