Title: $46 for a friggin' brake lever
Post by: SDeswal on April 18, 2004, 11:28:50 PM
:guns: i went to my local shop and they told me it'd be 46 bucks to replace my brake lever. then i looked around online and found this (http://houseofmotorcycles.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/oem_schematic_view.asp?schem_dept_id=717091&section_dept_id=1&section_dept_name=OEM+%28Stock+Parts%29&dept_type_id=2&model_dept_year=2001&model_dept_mfr=Suzuki&model_dept_id=703275&model_dept_name=GS500K1)  website that also wants 46 bucks

anyone think they can find me a cheaper brake lever (or tell me why they're so friggin' expensive :dunno: )

Ebay. Do a search for "GS500" you'll get about 5 sets in silver, black, carbon... whatever you want. Both brake and clutch.

I just got a set of carbon finish, they shipped quick, fit perfectly, and only cost me $19.95 + shipping.

The Lockhart Phillips brake lever designed for the '96-'98 GSXR 600/750 will fit. It is also adjustable and retails for <$15. Order from your local shop.

Just ordered mine from Bikebandit.com Thursday evening.  I think it was $23 plus shipping.

A local shop in Baton Rouge sells them for $12.95 plus tax every day.  Somebody's trying to screw you.  Are they 24k gold plated or something?

I did the same thing except got the silver ones.  Forget $46, they're trying to take you to the bank!

If you have a 2001 and newer (from the price you do) the levers changed - and the old style ones you find on EBay won'tfit
