after rejetting... does your gas milage go down??
5-10 %... not bad... and the thing is jetted rich as it can get... If you jetted for power instead of being at the edge of where its too rich to even run... you might gain gas mileage... I think.
Cool.
Srinath.
with all the stop and go driving on my trip to work i used to hit reserve right around 100 miles. after rejetting and pipe and filter and advancer, I hit it about 88-90 miles now.
byt the way i have a 96 so ihave the smaller tank.
jake
i have 97.... is that still the smaller tank???
i'm pretty sure.
i don't think they changed the tank until the 2001 model. Someone with the newer model correct me if I"m wrong.
Jake
I don't have a newer model, but you are correct. To the best of my knowledge, it goes like this:
'89-'00 CA model: 4.0 gallons
'89-'00 non-CA model: 4.5 gallons
'01+ models (all states): 5.5 gallons
I have an '01 with that larger tank and what a plesure a little extra fuel is. Just took a weekend to visit relatives (300 mi one way) in NJ, rode from the Adirondack mountains, then mostly interstate (Northway, NY Thruway) and then some urban hiways and surface streets. Most riding was 70-80 MPH. The GS did great. Averge MPG was around 58 or so...left home with about half a tank, filled her twice over the entire weekend, and made the round trip for 20 bucks plus what I started with in the tank. Nice.
BTW I am rejetted, and a Cobra F-1 can.
i just figured out my gas mileage on my last tank of gas. with all the mods and my 20 miles a day of round trip stop and go and my heavy throttle hand I'm down to about 32-35 a gallon.
Haven't done any long stuff yet.
