Title: Bearded Sportbikers?
Post by: Wrencher on April 20, 2004, 10:44:15 AM
Anybody else out there have a beard and ride sport bikes? Maybe its geographic, but there were very few riders with beards in Colorado and VERY few in Arizona. The majority of the bearded riders I have met seem to favor cruisers and beanie/half helmets rather than the full face beard-ectomy devices other wise known as helmets.

i've noticed the same thing myself out here in minnesota.  i suppose a lot of people my age just don't have beards (low 20's), but as far as bikers go, i see almost none with beards.  but yeah, i've had a beard for around 3 years.  i keep it trimmed and all that, but beard with full face helmet all the way!

Yup, I got a beard, but will be shaving soon. The beard hairs poke into my full face helmet lining and tears the hell out of my face when I take the helmet off!!

Thats more or less what prompted the topic. I am tempted to shave it off every time I take the damn thing off but I never do. Been ripping it out bit by bit with the helmet for about 6 years!

For those that have not experienced this, think helmet hair, but from the chin up. I probably look like some sort of red headed werewolf after a long ride.  :o

yeah octane the secret is to keep it short.  i use a norelco beard trimmer and couldn't be happier.  but when it gets a little long i notice it catching on things, and sometimes accidentally grabbing it when lifting my helmet off.

It would depend if you consider the GS a "sport" bike.

If so, then yes, I have a beard and ride a sports bike.

If not, then, No, I don't ride a sports bike.

Also, I have never ripped out my beard one hair at a time.

I grew my beard back as soon as I got out of the Navy in '95 and up until a year ago, when I got tired of having a beard. I wont ride without a fullface helmet, and all I've been ridin' since '95 has been sportbikes. Now I run my fingers through my hair so I don't leave a nest in the top of my helmet.
