Title: Helmet visor
Post by: Stime187 on April 22, 2004, 03:45:17 PM
Anyone know where I can get a tinted visor for day riding at a reasonable price? It needs to fit a Shoei TZ-1 helmet if that matters... I checked Ebay but didn't see much.

Thanks for any ideas,
Scott

pretty much all tinted visors are around $20, mirrored visors are $35-50 dollars.

check your local dealer for chrissake. they stock stuff like this. it'll cost you $5 to ship it anyway so dont worry if the visor is a little more at the local shop. I've bought 2 at local shops. If they sell helmets they probably have visors.

Yeah he's right. Don't pay to have a visor shipped.  Get one at the stealer, at least you won't have to pay to return it.  I bought a tinited one and don't use it - wrap around glasses are be a better buy.

I just bought a dark smoke tinted visor for my helmet today. Went out to one of the motorcycle dealers near me (Honda) knowing they carry helmets so presuming they have visor to go with them. $25 it cost, but is so needed in the Florida sun.

None of my dealers had one, I checked all 4 within an hour's drive. Apparently my helemt is too new or something... but none of them had it for that style...

Thanks for the links...

I searched Chaparral's online catalog (http://www.chaparral-racing.com) for 20+ minutes and came up with nothing.

Then I pulled their paper catalog off my shelf (Duh!) and located the following in a minute or two:

EDIT: Changed link from sisna.com to bbburma.net.

Your dealers suck man.

Shoei only uses one or two different styles of sheilds for all of their helmets.  You should have no trouble finding sheilds for that helmet.  "Too new" my eye.  That just means they have no idea what they're talking about.

Yeah, I should have mentioned that I cropped out the listings for 2 other shields: the VFX-R AIR and the X-11.  These were the only 3 Shoei shields listed in my paper catalog.

If anyone wants the info for those other shields, I'll put them back in and repost the picture above.

right,  and the VFX-Air is an offroad helmet.  The X-11 is their racing helmet which means it needs a different visor for tear-off purposes.  So basically any Shoei street helmet visor should fit your lid.

Yeah that was kind of my thinking. But they didn't have ANY replacement shields at ANY of the dealerships so it wouldn't have mattered even if they did know.

But thanks for the time guys, and the info...

I have a TZ-1 and I bought a light smoke tint shield for it. The shield has to ba a model CX-1 (for all the tints, it just has to be a model (mold) CX-1.

I was gonna say go to a Cycle Gear or order one from one of the dealers.
