I just sent my pipes away to get Jet-Hot coated. Personally, the costs of upgrading the coating to chrome were way too expensive on a non-completely custom bike. http://www.jet-hot.com/ there is the site if u wanna check it out...you can send them a rusty pipe and they'll do all the work on cleanin it up and give the pipe a real nice finish; inside and out.

I agree that chrome looks great and is easy to clean, but it retains heat and is heavier than paint, which I can never understand why people chrome the oil tank on their Harleys.

after enough pressure from a couple of buddies, i actually got my grab bar chromed.  it does look pretty sweet.  it cost $35.  i'd imagine getting the pipes chromed would be really expensive.

I hate chrome, but that's just me! Having my wheels powder-coated bronze. But like I said that's just me. Chrome is ok, just so typical and blingy. Which, is not me.

How about the chrome water pumps you can buy for hot rods?  Chrome can look good on things but 99% of the time give me satin finish Aluminum.  Then there are guys that don't keep a theme when they build their cars so everything looks like an afterthought.  Some chrome here, some polished elsewhere, some brush finish, etc.  Its too bad Demon doesn't make carbs for bikes, I would be all over that ;)

I think chrome would look out of place on the GS unless some other stuff was given the touch.  I agree that a Jet Hot coating would look the best and certainly perform well (help take heat away from engine if inside is coated too).  Make sure your bike is running tip top though.  Ceramic coated headers do not like an ill-tuned engine.
