I am going to replace the two blown out tach & speedo bulbs on my bike.
So which color should i go.. i looked at some old threads and found srinath said no to hyper white or those blue whites, apparently they are really really bright.
I was thinking either get some standard 194's Long Lasting type from autozone and put a colored blub insert on it? or should i get a precolored one?
Whatever the solution.. which color should i get.. or just get a standard OEM type colored one?
Here is a night shot of Richard's new "bi-color" gauge lights. I'm not sure about the details -- you'll have to ask him.

Sorry it took me so long to post this, Richard!
EDIT: Changed link from sisna.com to bbburma.net.
I use red bulbs in my Gs450, and the only prob. I can see is that the red for the redline area isn't red at night, but you can still see the line. I like it because it is easier on my eyes, and the bulbs were bought at Autozone, so I can get them about anytime. The bulb was numbered 194R.
Don
well its an easy fix.. i didnt realise how easy the swap was..
okay it took me over 5 minutes to find that acorn nut that i dropped but otherwise i was done in a few minutes..
I didnt do the speedo side cause it wsant blown as i thought it was... i would have liked to replaced it but it was too much of a hassle trying to find a small enough screw driver to take that reset screw off.
I went with the standard OEM color.. later on I might go orange or something.. these things comes in a variety of colors. i saw blue, green, orange, red...
kinda exciting..
I love richard's new bi-colored dash.
My tach buld was out, and I pulled it out to remind me to go pick up a new one. I never really thought of changing the buld color because I assumed the guages themselves were colored. I think I may try something different myself. Thanks for the idea.
I had never thought about the colour of the bulb on my tach, but after reading this I thing I'll change mine to a bright green colour. I have a black 96 GS with hints of green at various points like the black and green grips and same colour tank stripe. The previous owner started the colour scheme off by putting green neon lights, two of under the rear fender and another two above the engine. It's cheesy I know, but atleast I have an on/off switch.
PURPLE!!!
