Chapparal for me. Got 'em last week. Wife & kids were out of town this past weekend. 20 minute job only took me an hour and a half, but what a difference! I'm around 240 pounds, so when I jumped on the bike before the old springs compressed. Now, the whole riding posture is different. I had to adjust my mirrors. Great mod!

I will agree about it being hard to find anything "from scratch" on the Chaparral website. But with the paper catalog in hand, it's the site I usually turn to first. They almost always beat
Dennis Kirk on price, and they have more stuff than
Ron Ayers or others.
MAW may win on price sometimes, but you can't find out the shipping costs until you submit your order. (What's up with that?)

does anyone know the approximate cost of shipping that chaparral-racing charges on a set of springs. i also noticed that you must complete your order to find out shipping costs. i was going to order some until i couldn't find out shipping cost.
plus, is it easy putting them in? do it yourself job, no problem?

When they shipped me the springs + tank bag + chain lube, it was $11.99
when they shipped a chain it was $6.
I'd guess probably about $6

alright i ordered my progressive springs today. 6 dollars for shipping and a total of 52 dollars. next is the rear shock. i wanna do no modification if i can avoid it. just a shock swap. i hear this can be done with a 750 gsxr shock. i have a '92 gs. what year gsxr shock do i need?

So now I'm thinking, will I need a new shock too if I upgrade the fork springs? Are the new springs stiffer or enough different to throw off the handling with the stock shock? the rear of my bike seems to work fine so far. Only the front has bottomed a few times. :dunno:

I installed Progressive springs last year (lazy method) but still have the stock shock. No problems that I can detect. In fact, since I recently detected a slight leak on one fork I think I'll pull the whole thing apart, replace the seals, and thicken up the fork oil to 15W. Still without doing anything to the shock.
I bought a Katana 600 shock from Srinath a couple years ago, but never mounted it. When I sold my '96 to Richard I threw in the Kat shock, and we installed it. He outweighs me by about 30 pounds, so I think it was a wise move for his needs. But at my 170 lbs I think the bike would tilt too far forward, and undo what I have achieved with my handlebar risers....
With the new springs you will mainly notice two things, and right away:
1) The front end won't dive as you shift gears during high-acceleration takeoffs.
2) The front end won't bottom any more when you go over bumps or dips!
