What is next on the list of bikes to get?
YZF 600R, or a Honda Interceptor.
I'd like to do some sport touring with a large emphasis on sport rather than touring. I like the Yamaha FJR 1300 but it's huge. I know you can take off the bags and it's sporty, but it's still a big bike.
:thumb:
Something big, old, and cheap.
i want an sv650 or a honda 919.
Thinking about another bike is against my religon.
yama fz6 all the way babee.
:dunno_white:
SV i'd reckon. or maybe a Monster if i can swing it.
Quote from: stephanYZF 600R, or a Honda Interceptor.

Yes those are very nice, I also really like the new F4i, its a better seat and riding position than the 600RR. Not sure that I'll be ready to jump to the I4 on my next though, that means more realistically a SV.
I'm looking for a classic - something from 1973 preferably... maybe a CB750, CB500, XS650, or something like that... I plan to build a bobber out of it. I'm becoming more and more interested in older bikes from japan and converting into something they were never intended to be - like bobbers or cafe racers...
Rolly
YZF 600R would be good for sporty touring, but I just melt when I see a Gixxer 600. An R6 would be nice too but my damn university keeps taking my money!
i would love a yzf 600 thundercat but i'll see if i can afford the insurance...if not, then a kat 600
With any luck:
CR500 motor/TZ250 framed roadracer
Got my eye on a older KTM DXC300 if I can swing a cheap deal or fair trade.
I see a GS450 project in my future, too.
I'm also keeping my eye out for a lucky deal on a DRZ or TTR 125L.
I know a guy with (2) Kaw 400's in different states of assembly that I may make one good runner out of.
Maybe either a Monster 800 or a Thruxton 900.
SV1000S i took one for a test ride this spring and damn was it a blast. i clicked third and before i knew it i was breaking 100mph (i am used to third only getting me to 70-80 and taking a while to get there) i liked it more than the gsxr600, R6 and CBR600F4i, but i lost my great deal whin the salesman i was talking to switched dealers :( ($8,300 and change out the door) but such is life.
next summer i will have it
xb9r, i rode one the other day and man is the power smoooooooth. rattles your nuts at idle but once you take off its a whole other machine.
either a sv or a monster. Not for a while though
I am dying to get an Sv1000s. I have test ridden 2 of them.
I founf one for $6999 out the door. its an 04 but its a demo bike so it has about 350 miles on it so far.
Love all that torque.
Micah
The wish list would include the Yamaha FJR1300, Honda ST1300, or perhaps a Beemer. Yep, a sport-tourer is in the future.
Some form of roadrace bike, either 125GP, FZR 400 (perhaps 3TJ?), NSR/RGV250 or built EX500 (there's one locally that I'm interested in)
I've also wanted a 1998 style VFR800 for the last 5 years. I don't know if I'll be doing much street riding anymore though.
Maybe a dual purpose for around town?
CANNOT decide Speed Four ... SV650 oh well someone jus decided for me ... My skool that is ... I will be on the GS for a while ... being broke sux ... well atleast I m not upto my neck in student loans or debt :P
It's a definite maybe, but my choice at the moment is a V-Strom 650. Before that was either a Bonneville T100 or Thruxton. Tomorrow? Who knows...
Let's see, well a honda cbr600rr would do the trick so would an R6 or a GSX600, but for those moments of cross country dreaming I think a Kawasaki ZZR1200 down at the local dealer would suffice if I could get use to 500+ pounds and 145 rear horsepower. It's nice to dream...
I think my next bike is a ways off, but it will probably be something with fuel injection and aluminum frame. The FZ6 catches my eye, and some of the "adventure bikes" too, ie. V-strom or BMW F650GS or.... Plenty of time to dream :thumb:
GSXR750 (newer one if I can afford it)
Or an older GSXR1100
The 750's are the sh!t though. They're only a tick slower than the 1000's. sick man....
Shane
306 N2O Pinto
I have my next one which is a V-Strom 650. My next next one is probably going to be a BMW RT.
what's the difference btween a vstrom, and the sv's? andt he bandit? they all look really similar to me.
I'll have to get my first bike, first, but my next bike might be a sv1000s, or an fz6. maybe a 600rr or a r6. who knows. havent even gotten close to deciding yet.
I moved on to an R6, which is a blast for now. I can see it getting old in a few years by virtue of the ergos... although I still think the R6 is very comfortable compared to other supersports. I'm thinking in a few years I may bump down to a sport-tourer.. something like a YZF600R (if they are still making them, rumor is 04 is the last year) or a Katana (if they de-ugly the fairings between now and then).
Maybe a Honda CBR 600RR or a Ducati 748 (yellow) love the honda (becuase it's a honda) and love the Ducati (Ducati, need I say more) but the ultimate machine (which I dont have the experience for yet, is the Honda CBR1000RR
Let's see... in order of preference...
FZ6 - Just need slightly lower bars and I should be all good :)
YZF600R - Most comfortable sportbike I sat on, wish it was FI, but has adjustable suspension which the FZ6 doesn't have
Interceptor - With ABS... A bit too heavy and a little too much bike for me right now, but I definitely see myself getting one of these once I make something else than grad student money :(
F2 or F3 CBR600. Or an R6.
Scott
GSXR 750-the only choice

You want bobber?
From the new CW, there's a Yam Vision that the guy from Cobra (choppers) has converted into a - well, you tell me:
well i work part time at my local harley davidson dealer so i get a discount on all bikes 8)
So the plan is when im 19 get a Buell XB9S Lightning and when i can afford it, a Harley Davidson Fatboy!! :P
YZF 600 hopefully. Older and cheaper to insure than an R6 and more comfy. Just a little less access to power than the R6. If i didn't get a good deal it would be a honda though, best rice burners for riding, forget that power crap, their all powerful.
I'm absolutely lusting after a black Speed 4. The seating fits me perfectly and the power/handling is everything I'm looking for.
The only thing really holding me back (besides money) is that I love the Super Hawk and find its exhaust simply intoxicating. It also fits me like a dream and striking good looks in my eyes. I'm thinking the insurance will kill me so the Speed 4 will be the one.
I'm absolutely lusting after a black Speed 4
Get the triumph, its a brit bike insurance is cheaper. My coworker has a sprint. full coverage in NYC is 1,000 bucks and its a liter bike. Liter bikes insurance for like 4000 grand normally in NYC.
SV or SVS 650, maybe that new yamaha FZ6 I think it is.
I seem to change my mind every couple of days. This is the main reason why I have not bought one. The SV650, 599, YZF600R, Speed4, V-strom 650, BMW R1150R...... decisions ... decisions. It is a sickness. I decided not to read any magazines or login for a while just to give my brain a rest. I have my autos paid off and I am just waiting to decide.
I am thinking that my next will have to be a V-Strom 650. Hopefully insurance will still be reasonable on that bike, and I really like the seating position.
If not, then a Triumph probably.......something about a british bike.
Andy
speaking of lusting at exotics....has anyone noticed Ducati is bringing out their retro cafe-racers? I'm LUSTING for the Paul Smart 1000....but alas a new bike is a number of years away so Lusting is it for me. I don't wanna think about my "next bike" I just wanna enjoy my bike :thumb:
ohhh man. I LOVE the smart 1000. If I wasent so broke and didnt want 500 other bikes first, that would be the top of my list!!
either a firebolt, (hey its a harley at heart) :dunno: we had two of them at mmi before the dealers ever got them (before release), or im going to be hunting an fxrsp :dunno:
It's tough to decide right now, I have about 10 months to go on my resricted license, but as soon as I'm on my full license I want a bigger bike.
So far the list is:
SV1000S or SV650S (depends how the 650 goes)
GSX-R 750 or 600
Honda F4i
But I just realised that my dream bike is actually affordable.
Triumph Daytona 600, in yellow with a Union Jack fairing :)

If I manage to get the money and if the dealer is very nice to me, I'm gonna get SV650S.
Otherwise, I'm gonna go with the Hyosung Comet GT650.
D.

All the Duc retro specals are going to be limited production with prices north of $10K.
:(
<Yamaha soapbox>
There would be other bikes that would be nice or fun to have, but right now I already have what I consider a near perfect streetbike: YZF600R. Cheap, full fairings, very good fully-adjustable suspension, and very well finished. I cris-crossed Georgia this weekend for Nat. Guard drill and got caught in nasty thunderstorms both ways. The crosswinds was trying to blow me out of the saddle, but the bike tracked straight and true the whole time. All I had to do was hunker down behind the windscreen and tip toe thru the puddles and spray of cages going 40 mph on an interstate. Not fun, but it would have been impossible on an SV or the like...

ok now..... the vstrom is an ugly basterd, the sv has an open bottom frame with a low center of balance and the bandit, the bandit doesnt even have an engine based on the tl's engine whereas the other two do, now, if you cant see those differences then you need to sell your bike and buy a cage
I said they
look similar. the svs are obviously more attractive. the vstrom is ugly to me, and the bandit isnt too much better, but just more cruiserish.
to me the vstrom looks like an oversized scooter.
cbr600rr or gsxr600
O.k., I lied. I change my mind. I'm thinkin' of getting a DR650 and making it into a supermotard...o.k, I'm just thinkin' of putting street tires on it...
Y'know, I swear, every time I start thinking of another bike, my current bike knows it and starts acting funny.
I just found out that full coverage insurance on my current '94 would be $244/yr. Full coverage on a NEW '04 GS500F($4999): $861/yr. And, full coverage on a new '04 DR650(also $4999): $282/yr.
Triumph Speed Triple or Triumph Sprint RS. Gawd, I have too many bikes already & not enough storage space. There's usually 2 of them sitting outside under covers at any given time.
Yamaha FZ6-S. Just saw a live one few days ago. *drool*
QuoteTriumph Speed Triple or Triumph Sprint RS
I LOVE the Speed Triple. It looks great, and the ergonomics are great for me. I just don't need the kind of power it has. I wish they made a it in a less powerful version. The ergonomics on the Speed Four are uncomfortable for me.
Laura
Oh .. A GS500. With belt drive, and 16inch 90 profile rear tire. Like a 140/90 - 16. Cool.
Srinath.
I love my 2001 but would love a heavier sport-tourer for the highway. If money's no object, my object of desire is 2004 BMW R1150RT (newer one has a twin spark-plug engine design). Another bike that's peaked my interest is Yamaha's FJR1300, also a super sport tourer. The Yamaha's a bit scary though because it's got way more power than any sane person should have on two wheels (145 hp on a 527 lb. bike, yikes).
Srinath....come out of the closet, weirdo!!!!!
i'm going to look at a . . . . 93? RGV 250 tomorrow

Rolly,
what's a bobber. I'm also an old bike fan, but I've nevver heard that term. Right now I have a 1967 Yamaha ycs1 that is the precursor to the RD engine. I also have a student in one of my classes right now that has a 1976 RD350 and a spare parts bike that I'm trying to get her to part with. I love the RD's they used to call them monster killers.

I think bobbers are a style of chopping bikes. You bob/cut the rear fender so its real short. Some people cut the front down or completely remove it. I can't remember if bobbers are all raked or not
Hey, any of you guys had any experience with the Kawi ZRX line of bikes? I'm really digging the style but am a little concerned about the engine. I've heard they are pretty cheap on insurance for what they are :)
You'll get a break on insurance but don't be fooled that's a modern kawasaki engine in it. Torque Torque and more torque. It's about as fast as a ZX7/ZX9. The 1200 version has 80lbs of torque and their "little" guy has like 70lbs. I'd get a triumph over one of those though.

Thanks man exactly the info I was looking for. :thumb: I'm thinking I'll stick with the Speed 4.... seems like its a hoot to ride. I'm sure as much as I like the Super Hawk too, I won't like buying new rear tires for it ;)

Closet... what closet... Anyway That belt drive has been effectivelu pushed to the back of my project list... due to the arrival of the 4inch wheel... and 160's ... well mostly thanks to you.
Cool.
Srinath.
Ducati Monster 200!!!! or Kawasaki Z 200!!!! (No No No I made it...)
Any pretty bike that I don't need to lower. Too much work for lowering a bike
hmm... I should buy a pocket bike! Great size for me! :thumb:
I want SUZUKI RGV250 BUT VJ23
